Prisoner selected for Canneseries

We are honored to announce that DR Drama’s upcoming drama series PRISONER is selected for the Main Competition at the prestigious Cannes International Series Festival - CANNESERIES (April 14-19). An impressive delegation from both DR Sales and DR Drama will make their appearance on the pink carpet this April, including the four main characters portrayed by Sofie Gråbøl, David Dencik, Charlotte Fich and Youssef Wayne Hvidtfeldt. The World Premiere of PRISONER will take place on April 18 at 11am in the world-famous Théâtre Lumière, where two episodes of the series will be shown to the world for the first time. RISONER depicts the life and work of four prison officers - Sammi, Henrik, Miriam, and Gert. Their personal problems and secrets are reflected and amplified by the dynamics of their common workplace – the prison. Their work environment is raw and hostile, and their respective lives outside the prison walls are filled with conflict, secrets, and loneliness for very different reasons. Secrets, that will soon resurface and have great consequences not only for the four prison officers, but for everyone inside and outside the walls. PRISONER is created by Kim Fupz Aakeson (The Shift, Cry Wolf, Utmark) in collaboration with Frederik Louis Hviid (Temple, Shorta, Follow The Money) and Michael Noer (Before The Frost, Papillon, R), who also directs. Main cast includes Sofie Gråbøl (The Shift, The Undoing, The Killing), David Dencik (The Chestnut Man, Chernobyl, The Kingdom), Charlotte Fich (Outlaw, Borgen – Power & Glory, Unit One) and Youssef Wayne Hvidtfeldt (Borgen – Power and Glory). PRISONER is produced by Rikke Tørholm Kofoed for DR Drama, and the 6 x 58’ series will air on DR1 in September 2023.
