Info

This is an intimate and dramatic journey together with Tiba, an Iraqi young woman fighting for freedom and equality. March 20th 2023 is the 20th anniversary of the US-led invasion of Iraq and the fall of Saddam Hussein. October 1st 2022 young men and women gather in thousands at Tahrir square in the middle of Baghdad to celebrate the 3 years anniversary of the largest youth demonstrations in history of Iraq. These young people want Iraq back from 20 years of chaos, conflict and wars. One of the demonstrators are the 19-year-old Tiba. Without telling her mother where she is going, she went out in Baghdad streets to join the demonstrations. When she arrived at Tahrir Square she was amazed by the large number of women and youth in the demonstrations. Men and women were standing side by side to fight for freedom and democratic changes. This generation has enough of militias, corrupted politicians, and foreign interference and want Iraq to belong to them. Tiba starts a medical team together with Yousif and Khader, and their friendship is growing strong. They spend days and nights together on the square in the tent. They laugh, cry, are terrified and face danger together feeling the desire of youth for change and the strength of Iraqi women. This film shows Tiba’s transformation from forced marriage and abuse to a young woman fighting for her rights. We see her as she gets more and more aware of her own wishes and demands. She will study and have an independent job, she will fight for democracy, and she will fight for a new generation being together in a different way. Will she manage this?
